Selecting the Exposure

In fax mode, set the originals, and press the light and
dark keys (
and
).
●
Initially the exposure indicator is not lit and exposure control is
automatic.
●
To darken the exposure, press the
key.
●
To lighten the exposure, press the
key.
●
If you select an intermediate exposure level (for example 2 or 4), that
indicator and an adjacent indicator light up.

Select to have the exposure level automatically adjusted.

Select for originals with dark characters.

Select for originals with normal characters.

Select for originals with faintly written characters.

Note
You cannot change the exposure while the original is being read into memory. If scanning from the
original table, you can change the exposure when you place the next page of the original.
Returning the exposure setting to auto mode...
After you have manually selected an exposure setting, to return to auto mode press the
key until the
5 indicator is lit, and then press the
key once more. Similarly, you can press the
key until the 1
indicator is lit, then press the
key once more.
