SERVOTOUGH LaserExact Monitor, Operator Manual 02950001A_1
OPERATION
43
the fault (See Section 5.4). The instrument automatically attempts a restart after one
hour.
5.2
Maintenance
The SERVOTOUGH LaserExact Monitor is designed to reduce maintenance to a
minimum. Experience has shown that a maintenance interval of more than three
months is acceptable for most applications. The maintenance operations described in
this section will secure a continuous and safe operation of the monitor.
WARNING
If using toxic, asphyxiant or flammable sample or calibration gases,
open cabinet or alignment chamber enclosures in a force ventilated
open area, or in another appropriate environment in which any
hazardous gases are directed away from the user.
5.2.1
Routine maintenance
For best performance we recommend to routinely carry out the follows steps:
•
Check optical transmission regularly. This can be done automatically by use of
instrument output or WARNING relay or similar.
•
Adjust alignment when necessary (see Section 3.4).
•
Consider cleaning the LaserExact cell when transmission is very low (see Section
5.2.2). At very low transmission the LCD will show «Laser line-up error»
alternating with «Low transmission».
•
For applications that normally have zero gas: Check instrument response by
applying some gas at least once every three months. Use sufficient gas to give a
large instrument response for at least 10 minutes (at least 70 minutes after power
on). No warnings or errors should be displayed during the test. For certain
instruments this procedure is not necessary as the laser is tracking on another
absorption line than the “zero gas” line (e.g. H
2
O line for an HF instrument).
Contact SERVOMEX if you are in doubt about your instrument.
•
Check calibration every 12 months (depending on the required accuracy).
Recalibrate if necessary. (See below.)
•
At each calibration check, save instrument settings and measurement data
recorded with some gas (“setting-files” and “dump-files”). This is for tracking
purposes in case of future service issues.
