Network Connection Type
DHCP:
After the user presses power and initializes the NVR, the Startup Wizard automatically
communicates over the LAN (Local Area Network) settings to your router or modem. Your router or
modem will typically assign all of the IP address’ to the devices (like your NVR, laptops, PCs, cell
phones, etc) using the DHCP feature. The NVR and your router or modem communicate with each
other to establish these settings.
Static IP:
Unlike the dynamic DHCP address function, a static LAN IP address never changes, even
when the power to the NVR, router, or modem is cycled. It is always best to assign a static IP address
AFTER your NVR has originally communicated with your router and established a DHCP address.
Simply type your NVR IP address into the address bar in a computer on the same local network to
connect with the NVR. You may be prompted to accept a plugin or ActiveX program the first time you
log in.
Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet
(
PPPoE
) is a
network protocol for encapsulating PPP frames
inside Ethernet frames. Do not use this selection unless it is requested and configured by a network
administrator.
Client port: The port used in your mobile device software (not a web browser like IE, Firefox, Safari,
etc)
An example program would be
RXCAMLINKPRO
. This is the recommended program for iOS and
Android phones and tablets. The port number can be changed but must be identical on the NVR and
the device that is connecting to it.
