b)  Only use accessories that are designed for this device and that fulfil the require-

ments and the specifications listed in these operating instructions.

c)  Never use the chisel as a hand tool. They are specially designed for application

in non-rotating impact air tools and are correspondingly heattreated.

d)  Never use blunt chisels: they require an excessive amount of pressure and this

can result in fatigue breakage. Blunt tools can cause increased vibration, which

is why you should always use mounted tools that are sharp.

e)  Never cool hot accessory parts in water. This can lead to brittleness and prema-

ture failure.

f)  Never misuse the mounted tool as a lever (e.g. for mortising); this can result in

chisel breakage or damage. Work in small partial sections to avoid getting stuck.

g)  Avoid any direct contact with the mounted tool both during and after use becau-

se it may be hot or have sharp edges.

Risks in the workplace

a)  Slipping, tripping and falling are the main reasons for accidents in the workpla-

ce. Pay attention to surfaces that may have become slippery as a result of using

the device, and also be careful that the air hose does not cause someone to trip.

b)  Proceed carefully when working in unfamiliar environments. Power cables and

other supply lines may represent a hidden risk.

c) The

device is not designed for use in explosive environments and is not insula-

ted against contact with sources of electric power.

d)  Ensure that the area where you wish to work is free of power cables, gas lines

or water pipes (e.g. by using a metal detector).

Risks associated with dust and vapours

a)  The dust and vapours generated when the device is used may carry health risks

(e.g. cancer, birth defects, asthma and/or dermatitis); it is therefore imperative

that a risk assessment is carried out in relation to these risks and that suitable

controls are then implemented.

b)  The risk assessment should take into account both the dust generated while the

device is used and any existing dust that may be raised during operation.

c) The

device must be operated in accordance with the recommendations set forth

in these instructions and must be maintained in order to minimise the release of

dust and vapours.

d)  The extracted air must be discharged in such a way that, in a dust-filled environ-
