OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
For Electronic Polarity Reversing Control Units
WORKHOLDING AND AUTOMATION
b) Mounting and Connection:
1. Environmental conditions on site:
The controller is designed for air cooling. A free way for the air-flow must be given.
The maximum temperature must be lower than 40°C/ 104°F at a relative humidity of 90%.
The temperature on site has to be checked under manufacturing conditions after installation.
If needed, the electric cabinet has to be air-cooled or air-conditioned.
The control units are fitted for vertical mounting.
It is essential for controller and operator to protect the unit from splash-water, steam, dust
and cuttings. Pay attention to the standards according to international protection rating.
In case of no attention, there is the danger of electric shock and controller damage.
2. Connection of Controller:
Reference the following terminal sketch. For control-units with more than 1 pair +/- contacts,
the wires have to be connected according to the labeled cable ends.
- The section of grounding cable has to be selected in the same capacity as the cables of
the magnetic chuck.
- The control-units are fitted with an internal slow burn fuse. For replacement of required
pre-fuses, please use the above listed values.
- Check mains voltage at terminals.
- For power supply of the controller with 230 V AC, the phase must be connected at the left
and the neutral conductor at the right terminal according to labeling.
- For power supply with 400 V AC, use phase L1 and L2 (U and V, respectively)
- The permitted losses in mains-voltage during magnetizing and demagnetizing have to be
lower than 5%.
- For electro magnetic chucks at 24 V DC chuck-voltage, 230 V AC / 400 V AC
mains-voltage and 110 V DC chuck-voltage, 400 V AC mains-voltage, there will be a
transformer needed. The transformer has to be connected into the mains-voltage circuit.
The secondary-voltage must be 32V for 24 V - chucks and 130 V for 110 V - chucks.
- The controlling conductors (terminals 9 to 18) have to be separated from other conductors.
Cables for controlling should not close to the power cables. For a larger distance, shielded
cables are needed. The terminals for controlling conductors are fitted for cable section
0,25 mm² up to 1,5 mm².
- If the optional controlling by the CNC-machine is required, the switches can be substituted
by 24 V DC signals. Connect the NC-ground at the terminal 12.
- To filter wrong signals due to vibrations at push buttons or induction, the signals will be
recognized only after an impulse of 500 ms. These clean impulses are needed at terminals
for magnetizing, demagnetizing and step regulation of holding force.
