Auto Focus Mode
Manual Focus Mode
Setting the Focus Modes

Choose a focus mode to suit your subject and composition. Auto focusing, Continuous Auto focusing,
Manual focusing, and Macro modes are available.

Focus will be automatically set near the centre of the frame.
[ Note ]
Focus is set when you push the PHOTO button halfway down. Focus is set on the subject located nearest the centre
of the frame. To provide sharper, clearer images, SPOT metering and MULTI metering function are available.
See page 115 for further details on Metering Modes.

Use this focus mode in most image taking conditions to obtain the best results.
Set the Power switch to
(CAMERA) mode, automatically sets the focus mode to Auto Focus.

Manual Focus function works in
(Programme), M, S, A,
(Movie), MySET and SCENE (NIGHT) modes.
✤
Allows the user to adjust the focus manually.
✤
When Manual Focus mode is set, [MF] is displayed.
1. Set the Power switch to
(CAMERA).
2. Set the Mode Dial to
(Programme), M, S, A,
(Movie), MySET or SCENE (NIGHT).
■
For SCENE mode, it only works in NIGHT mode.
3. Press the MF/AF button until [MF] icon is displayed.
■
[MF] icon will be displayed with a focus bar.
4. To adjust the focus, move the Quick menu selector up or down.
■
Selected focus distance is displayed.
5. Press the PHOTO button to take the photo.
6. To return to Auto Focus Mode, press the MF/AF button until the [MF] icon disappears.
[ Note ]
Manual Focus is not available when the distance is less than 30cm (0.9 ft) in TELE mode.
