ENGLISH

Work to the product/unit must only be carried out when at a
standstill. It is mandatory that the procedure described in the
installation and operating instructions for shutting down the
product/unit be complied with.

Immediately on conclusion of the work, all safety and protec-
tive devices must be put back in position and/or recommis-
sioned.

2.7 Unauthorised modification and

manufacture of spare parts

Unauthorised modification and manufacture of spare parts will
put the safety of the product/personnel at risk and invalidate
the statements on safety made by the manufacturer.

Modifications to the product are only permissible after consul-
tation with the manufacturer. Original spare parts and acces-
sories authorised by the manufacturer ensure safety. The use of
other parts nullifies the liability from the results of the usage.

2.8 Improper use

The operating safety of the supplied product is only guaran-
teed for conventional use in accordance with Section 4 of the
operating instructions. The limit values must on no account fall
under or exceed those specified in the catalogue/data sheet.

3. TRANSPORT AND INTERIM STORAGE

Immediately after receiving the product:

•Check product for transport damage,

•In the event of damage in transit, take the necessary steps with

the forwarding agent within the respective time limits.

CAUTION! Risk of damage!
Inappropriate transport and interim storage can cause
damage to the product.

•The switchgear is to be protected against moisture and

mechanical damage.

•It must not be exposed to temperatures outside the

range –20 °C to +60 °C.

4. INTENDED USE

The EC-Drain 2x4.0 switchgear is for automatic control of two
pumps with a maximum power consumption of P

 4,0 KW:

•in lifting units,

•for submersible pumps.

DANGER! Risk of fatal injury!
The switchgear is not protected against explosions and
may not be operated in the explosive area.

•Always install the switchgear outside the explosive

area.

•Use breakdown barriers when using float switches in

potentially explosive areas.

•In the case of usage in potentially explosive areas, be

sure to comply with all applicable explosion protection
regulations.

The intended use includes complying with these instructions.

Any other use is considered outside the intended use.

6. DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION

6.1 Description of the product (Fig. 1)

The EC-Drain 2x4.0 is an electronic switchgear with a built-in
microcontroller.

It controls two pumps depending on the switching status of the
connected float switch. When the high water level is reached,
an optical and acoustic signal are output and there is a forced
pump switch-on. The collective fault signal and high water
alarm are active.

An optional rechargeable battery (accessory) enables a
mains-independent alarm signal, which indicates the mains
voltage is missing by means of a continuous acoustic signal.

Pump faults are registered and evaluated.

The display of the operating statuses is signalled by LEDs on the
front. It is operated by buttons on the right side of the housing.
