To ensure an optimal connec-
tion, use an approved tool to
crimp the terminals.
Fig. 39. Crimping the cable.
e.
Insert the positive and negative cables into the corre-
sponding positive and negative connectors, pull the DC
cable to make sure that the terminal is well connected to
the connector.
f.
Use an open-end wrench to screw the nut all the way in
and make sure that the terminal is sealed well, as shown
Use the special wrenches for
MC4 connectors to ensure
that the correct tightening
torque is applied, without
damaging the connectors.
Fig. 40. Using an open-end wrench.
Warning
Before assembling the DC connector, make sure that the
cable has the correct polarity.
Warning
Use a multimeter to measure the DC input string
voltage, check the polarity of the DC input cable,
and make sure that the voltage of each string is
within the 1000 V range.
See the "Input" section in Tab. 21.
3.
Connect the cables to the inverter as shown in the following
connection diagrams:
a.
Connection for installations with
a single
solar field
(panels in the same direction and
strings of equal length):
Fig. 41. Single solar field connection, 1 string and 1 MPPT.
Fig. 42. Single solar field connection, 2 strings and 2 MPPTs.
shows the connection layout for customers who
have purchased
an inverter with two MPPT
inputs and only a single string is available
; this type
of connection is not recommended, but it can be used
(the inverter should be replaced with a different model with
a single MPPT).
