INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
SUB 100, SUB 250 BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER
FEATURES
• 1 channel, for active subwoofer enclosures • ideal for stereo and home theater systems • may be connected to any amplifier • low and high-level inputs • high-level outputs •
automatic switching on and off • phase inversion • output short circuit protection • overload protection • gold-plated connectors • two-colored LED indicator
The device is especially suited for installation in subwoofer enclosures for powering high-performance subwoofers. Thanks to its low and high-level inputs it may be connected to any
amplifier type. Thus it may be used for enhancing bass sounds in a conventional stereo system as well as in multi-channel home theater systems. The speaker enclosure shall be designed
according to the acoustical parameters of the applied subwoofer and the subwoofer amplifier is to be integrated into the enclosure.
INSTALLATION, SETTING IN OPERATION
1. Cut out an opening sized to fit the installation dimensions on the back cover of the enclosure. The device may be fixed to the enclosure using the 10 holes along its edge. Take care to
provide for the airtight insulation of the joining surfaces.
2. Observe the indicated polarity when connecting the speaker(s)! (The red wire is positive.) Use a special subwoofer speaker with a rating well above the given output power!
3. Connect the mains cable (first into the device then the mains) only when the amplifier is safely installed in the enclosure and the speaker and the input signal have been suitably
connected. Turn the VOLUME control all the way down before turning the mains switch ON.
4. The subwoofer amplifier may be switched on after the home theater (or stereo) amplifier has been set in operation. Set the desired volume by carefully turning up the VOLUME control.
5. The FREQ control defines the frequency band put out by the subwoofer amplifier. Its ideal setting depends on the speaker, the enclosure, the acoustic characteristics of the room and the
audio material played though the device. Adjust it according to your taste!
6. SUB – LFE switch: SUB: for use with subwoofer speakers; LFE: for low-midrange speakers.
7. PHASE switch: controls the speaker phase. After the enclosures have been set in their permanent locations it should be adjusted through trial-and-error to achieve the strongest
subwoofer response. (SUB 100: adjustable 0 - 180, SUB 250: 0 or 180 degrees)
8. AUTO ON – AUTO OFF switch: manual or automatic switching on and off. In the AUTO ON position the subwoofer amplifier automatically switches on when the amplifier is set in
operation, and switches off after a delay when the amplifier is switched off. If the output level of the connected amplifier is too low, the subwoofer amplifier may not sense its active state
and will not automatically turn on. In this case set the switch in the AUTO OFF position and manually turn the subwoofer amplifier on using the POWER ON / OFF switch.
CONNECTING THE INPUT SIGNAL
I. Home theater amplifier
Multi-channel home theater amplifiers are usually equipped with a low-level SUBWOOFER output especially for connecting active subwoofer enclosures. This is to be connected to the LOW
LEVEL INPUT L (+R) terminals of the built-in subwoofer amplifier.
II. Stereo amplifier
Conventional stereo amplifiers are not equipped with subwoofer outputs. Using the high-level inputs the device may also be connected to these amplifiers. Connect the speaker wires to
the subwoofer amplifier’s HIGH LEVEL IN RIGHT+/- and LEFT +/- terminals, then connect the stereo speakers to the subwoofer amplifier’s HIGH LEVEL OUT RIGHT+/- and LEFT +/-
terminals. The two speakers are connected to the stereo amplifier through the subwoofer amplifier.
Never connect the low and high-level inputs at the same time!

WARNINGS
• Take the warming of the heat sink into account when installing. Do not cover or operate in closed, confined spaces or pushed right against the wall! Leave at least 25 cms of free room
near the heat sink to allow for sufficient ventilation!
• Do not place near heaters and protect from dust, humidity and direct sunlight!
• Disconnect the supply voltage, if the overload protection turns on! After cooling off, the device may be turned back on after the connections have been checked.
• In the case of any other irregularity in operation immediately disconnect the supply voltage and contact your salesperson!
• When selecting the speakers take into account the given output power values. The user assumes all responsibility for damages arising from the use of undersized speakers.
• Speaker cables of at least 2 x 0,75 mm
2
cross-section area must be used for the high-level connections!
• Do not route sound-frequency cables directly next to the mains cable!
• It is recommended to switch off the mains supply if left unused for a longer period of time!
• The mains connection cable should be inserted all the way into the socket and the cable should not be broken when routing! In the case of it becoming damaged, immediately turn off
the voltage supply!
• Any modification, disassembly or manipulation of the accessible parts is forbidden! This voids the guarantee, which may only be claimed for the original amplifier in factory condition.
• Removing the device casing is FORBIDDEN and HAZARDOUS TO LIFE! Due to the special design of the device take extra care to observe electric shock protection regulations! To avoid
damaging the parts, lift only by holding the edges of the metal front panel, and transport only in its original box.
• The subwoofer amplifier may only be used indoors in dry conditions.
• Take care to set the voltage selector switch (110-120 V / 220 - 240 V) to the position corresponding to the mains voltage at the place of use!
• The device housing may be cleaned using a dry, soft cloth.
