6.  SMS

(Short Message Service)

(Depending on country and telephone network)

    You can send and receive SMS (Short Message Service) 
messages with your Laserfax machine. Your fax machine 
is pre-set to use this function; however, use of these serv-
ices is dependent on the particular country and telephone 
network. Ask your telephone system operator whether 
SMS operation is possible and whether you must be reg-
istered to make use of it. In the event that problems arise, 
or changes to your device are required, please contact 
your telephone provider.

  Sending SMS Messages

  Enter the text that you would like to send. You can 

enter a maximum of 160 characters or 640 characters 
(depending on country and telephone network).

To enter capital letters, press

 and the 

desired key simultaneously. You may add 

a space by pressing the

 key. Th

  e symbols are 

displayed directly above the letter keys. To enter 
symbols, press the blue key and the corresponding 
letter key simultaneously. Press 

J

 to begin a new 

paragraph. Pressing 

COPY

 to obtain a print-out 

of your SMS message before sending it.

message.

  You can enter a number with the number pad or 

you can select an entry from the telephone book, the 
redial list or the caller list:

  After sending the SMS message, your fax machine 

will print out a transmission report in accordance 
with its settings (see the chapter entitled 

Fax

Transmission Report).

  Receiving SMS Messages

When you have received an SMS, the green light

will shine on your fax machine,   and the

appear on the display. Th

  e fax machine will automatically 

print out incoming SMS messages. If you have turned 
the automatic printing function off , the SMS messages 
will be stored.

  Reading SMS Messages
