Setting Up and Optimizing
Media Center
Introduction
This chapter covers the procedures involved in setting up and optimizing
Windows Vista
®
Media Center� It is highly recommended that you perform the
procedures on the following pages in sequence to set up Media Center on the
Smart Media Console (SMC)�
The main procedures for setting up Media Center include:
Initial Setup – Media Center setup type, Internet connection, and other •
required components
Speaker Setup – Confi gure stereo or surround for your speaker setup. •
Confi gure Tuners, TV Signal and Guide – Scan for tuners and connections, •
and set up TV services�
Confi gure CableCARD™ Tuners – Applies to models equipped with •
CableCARD Tuners�
Optimize Display – Confi gure your primary video display and adjust display •
settings�
Set Up Music, Pictures, and Video Libraries – Add media folders for music, •
pictures, and videos�
Once Media Center setup is complete, you can change many of the settings
(such as TV signal, audio, program guide, and recorder) by choosing the
Settings option in Tasks under Media Center’s main menu�
