8.
Any time you make a change to a dim table, a check mark will appear next to "Data Changed". Any changes that you
made will be sent to the intercom system when you select "Activate Chgs" from the "Intercom" menu. However, a
few other changes need to be made first; press the Escape key as needed to return to the main menu screen.
9.
In order for dim tables to work, you must assign the dim function as a level 2 talk key assignment for each key that
has a feedback problem. For example, let’s say that keypanels N001 and N002 are located right next to
one-another, and both have key 1 assigned to communicate with DIR1. Assume that both keypanels have already
been assigned to dim table "CR1LEFT". Make the level 2 assignment as follows:
10. From the menu bar, select the "Keys" menu, then select "Ports".
11. Select port N001 from the pick list and press Enter.
12. Position the cursor in the T2 column for key 1 and type DIM as shown (Figure
☞
You could also use the "Select Key Assign Type" pick lists at the right side of the screen to assign the dim
function. The dim function is located in the "Special Functions" pick list. Generally, you will only use this method
when assigning the dim function at the keypanel rather than from within CSedit.
13. Press Escape to return to the main menu. To continue the example, you would repeat the dim key assignment for
keypanel N002.
14. When you are finished setting up dimming, send your changes to the intercom system by selecting "Activate Chgs"
from the "Intercom" menu.
15. Check operation by going to the keypanels and activating the keys that have the feedback problem. Note that -6dB
dimming causes a significant reduction in the speaker output level. If a situation allows it, you might try changing
to -3dB of dimming for example. Just remember that adjusting the volume controls on the keypanels may cause the
feedback problem to reappear.
☞
When you activate dimming on a keypanel, the intercom system will not dim that keypanel, but only any other
keypanels that are communicating with the same destination. This applies when the other keypanels have keys
activated to talk to the destination or when the destination has keys activated to talk to them. Only by activating
keys at other keypanels will the speaker at your keypanel be dimmed.
