QUANT/RND/DC
The Quantization function lets
you select from a variety of
preprogrammed scales used
to quantize the output of the
individual channels or the Mix
output.
The Random function adds random
frequency variation to a channel’s output
on a perfrequency period basis. The farther
clockwise you turn the knob, the more of the
random signal is applied to the frequency.
NOTE:
The Individual Mode randomization
amount and the Hex Mode randomization
amount sum together, so you can get double
the amount of randomization by turning them
both up to maximum.
The DC function adds a DC offset of +/- 12
semitones (quantized to semitones) to a
channel’s output (Individual Mode) or the
Mix output (Hex Mode). It’s useful for quickly
transposing one or more channels or the
entire Mix output. It is also useful to set the
root note for the quantizer.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
It’s important to
differentiate between this Quantization
function, which quantizes the outputs of
Mob of Emus’ internal channels, and the
Quantization CV Input mode, which quantizes
external signals patched to the CV inputs.
When in Quantization CV Input mode, the
scales and DC offsets selected here affect the
external quantizer and the quantized signals
replace the internal channels. See
Chapter 10
for details.

In Individual Mode:
Primary:
Selects the scale that a channel’s
output will be quantized to.
Option 1:
Adds random frequency variation
to a channel’s output.
Option 2:
Add a DC offset (+/- 12 semitones,
quantized) to a channel’s output.
In Hex Mode:
Primary:
Selects the scale for the Mix output
quantizer.
Option 1:
Adds random frequency variation
to all channel’s outputs.
Option 2:
Adds a DC offset (+/- 12 semitones,
quantized) to the Mix output.
Mixed Mode
When Hex mode is enabled and one or
more channels are selected, all parameter
edits will affect the selected channels, not
the Hex layer. However, Mob of Emus will
continue to apply the Hex layer offsets and
modifications, allowing you to make edits to
the individual channels while hearing the Hex
Mode offsets.
