Installing the Routing Switcher
The routing switcher is powered using the +15 V DC, 32 A PSU provided. This power supply plugs into the routing
switcher from the front, and obtains its AC mains supply via the IEC connector on the rear panel. An optional
second PSU is available for redundancy and load sharing.
The plug on the power supply cord is intended to serve as the disconnect device.
Any installation performed inside the chassis should be restricted to service personnel only.

Warning
— Always remove PSUs before shipping the routing switcher.
Caution
— When the frame is energized, Hazardous Energy Levels are present on the chassis
midplane where I/O card resettable fuses make contact with the 15V DC supply bus. Hazardous Energy
Sources can cause fire or serious burns under short circuit conditions. Access to the inside chassis
areas should be restricted to service personnel only by use of the chassis door screw. The screw should
be engaged to limit access to the inside chassis without a tool.
Servicing within the chassis while energized should be limited to module card or supply installation, or
defect replacement. Installation of the cards should be carried at the front of the enclosure and care
should be taken to avoid any card or user contact with the resettable fuses on the chassis’s midplane.
All other service or repair should be carried out off-line with the chassis in a de-energized state.
Warning
— Ensure that the AC mains supply complies with the PSU specification before making the
connection.
Warning
— The NK-3G144 must be connected to the mains earth via the IEC power connectors.
Warning
— An earthed neutral mains supply and residual current device is recommended for safe
operation.
ESD Susceptibility
— Anti-static precautions must be taken when fitting or removing PSUs and the
attached cards. Handle cards by the edges only. Wear an earthed wrist strap if possible, or place both
hands on the metal rack frame before handling the cards. Use anti-static bags or trays to store and
transport the cards.
