QuadraVista QF Manual

Appendix I.
Cascading QuadraVista QF Units
The QuadraVista QF can be cascaded in order to display more than four video sources simultaneously on a
single display. In this master-slave-system, any QuadraVista QF can be used as master or slave.
One unit acts as the master unit. The console that has a keyboard, mouse and display or touch screen is
connected to the output of the master unit. A slave unit can be connected to each input of the master unit. In
this way, each quadrant on the display can be split in four more quadrants.
Thus, in a maximum cascaded configuration, a total of 16 video sources can be displayed simultaneously on a
single console.
All display modes:
Display modes (Fullscreen, Quad, PiP, Win) of the master and the slaves and can be set, combined and
switched individually. For example, the master unit could be set to Quad mode, while the first slave is set to
PiP, the second slave to Fullscreen, the third slave to Quad and the fourth slave to Win mode. Any
combination is possible.
Keyboard and mouse operation:
Keyboard and mouse can be activated on any of the connected computers (up to 16) in order to operate on
them.
Hotkeys for switching:
Use hotkeys to activate any of the channels quickly, or to switch the display mode of any of units in the master-
slave system.
Different levels (master or slave) require different types of hotkeys.
For example, keep the hotkey default setting
=
+
for all slave units.
Just change the hotkey setting for the master unit. For example,
=
+
See the SYSTEM / HOTKEY Menu Item section on page 15 on instructions on how to change hotkeys.
Examples:
The examples below use a cascaded setup with 1 master, 4 slaves and 16 connected computers.
The keyboard and mouse of computer 16 can be activated by pressing the following hotkey combination:
+
to activate channel 4 on the master level, then
+
to activate channel 4 on the
slave unit connected to channel 4 of the master.
To change the display mode of the slave unit XP connected to port 4 of the master unit, press the following
hotkey combination:
+
to activate channel 4 on the master level, then
+
to switch from default Quad
Mode to PiP mode in quadrant 4. The result is a screen split into four equal quadrants. All quadrants are
split again in four equal quadrants, except for the quadrant in the lower right corner (channel 4) is showing
its four sources in PiP mode.
Note:
Use a programmable keyboard for easy switching of cascaded QuadraVista QF units. A single key can be
programmed to a hotkey combination. By pressing a single key, the keyboard and mouse of one of up to 16
connected computers can be activated, or the display mode of the master or any of the four slaves cab be
changed.
