TORSION BAR ADJUSTMENT
The leading discs on a wheel-offset disc harrow
tend to plow deeper thanks to the trailing discs.
Incorporated into the design of the offset harrow
frame assembly is a feature that helps compensate
for this tendency. This feature is the torsion bar.
The torsion bar adjusting nut permits tension to be
placed on the frame, which lifts up the outside
leading ends of the gang carriers to better level the
depth of the cut of the gangs. The tighter the
torsion nut is turned clockwise, the more the
leading ends of the front and rear gangs will be
raised.
FRONT HITCH ADJUSTMENT
It is important that the harrow drawbar be as close
to level as possible when hitched to the tractor. If
the tractor drawbar is higher than the harrow
drawbar, it will tend to pull the front disc gang out of
the ground. Conversely, if the tractor drawbar is
lower, it will tend to pull the front gang deeper into
the ground. Therefore, if the harrow drawbar and
the tractor drawbar are on the same plane, the disc
will plow level.
LEVELING FRONT TO REAR
On wheel type offset harrows, it is important that
the front disc gangs are level with the rear disc
gangs. To accomplish this, use the hydraulic
tongue cylinder (before and after) you level the
harrow.
