22. Operation and Usage
22.1 General
Using the rotary encoder, the four buttons and the clear colour display the Digiface AES can be
configured and set up completely at the device. Additionally internal memory allows for the per-
manent storage of six different states of the unit. Therefore the Digiface AES is able to operate
fully stand-alone, without any connected computer. In stand-alone operation it can transform into
totally different devices by the simple click of a button. Furthermore TotalMix FX, and with this the
application examples shown below, can also be controlled via MIDI, see chapter 27.6,
Stand-
Alone MIDI Control
.
22.2 Settings at the Unit
The Digiface AES has a simple menu structure, depending on the button pressed.
MIC/GAIN.
First push brings up the
Mic.Gain
, second push returns to the meter screen. Used to
set Gain and AutoSet for analog inputs, channels 5 and 6.
USER.
Activates the command stored under Remap Keys, see chapter 5.5.
CHAN/MIX.
First push brings up the
Channel
menu, second push the
Mix to
menu, third push
returns to the meter screen. In the Channel menu, the encoder is used to select the input and
output to be set, then the function to be set. These are
Settings, Parametric EQ
and
Low Cut
.
The
Mix to
menu gives access to the whole submix functionality, mix destination and source. A
source can be modified in mix level and panorama.
SETUP.
The encoder is used to select various options. The
Options
menu has the subpages
Load/Store all Settings, Clock, Hardware/Diagnosis
and
Control Room.
22.3 Store / Load Setups at the Unit
After hitting the key SETUP/REV, the encoder gives access to the subpage Load/Store all Set-
tings. First select the preferred memory slot, then the desired process (load or store). The
load/store process is completed by pushing the encoder for more than one second.
The Digiface AES has six memory slots for free usage. Three fixed slots offer convenient and
quick reset and configuration of the unit:
Factory.
Sets the unit into factory default state.
AD/DA.
Loads a configuration of an AES from/to Analog converter.
Clear Mix.
Performs a Total Reset of TotalMix FX.
22.4 Storing Setups from the Computer
Setups can be loaded into the unit from the computer. As the Setups are usually generated at the
computer the final step of transmission offers a convenient workflow. In TotalMix FX use
Options
/ Store current state into device
to select the desired storage place (Setup) within the unit.
