BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
1.
The nominal air gap setting for the FasTrax brake is from
.010" to .012" . To measure and adjust the air gap follow
the steps below,
Figure 37.
2.
Remove the brake cover by turning the brake release
handle counterclockwise and then the white plastic nut.
3.
Remove cover, some force may be required.
At the bottom of the brake there is a red steel plate with
three nuts on the bottom, this is the housing plate for the
electromagnetic coil. Just above the coil is a solid steel
piece that sits on the springs which engages the brake
shoe just above it.
The air gap can be measured between the top of the
electromagnetic brake and the bottom of the steel
engagement block.
ADJUSTING AIR GAP
4.
The air gap is adjusted with the hex nuts on both sides of
the electromagnetic coil housing plate (red plate).
5.
Increase the air gap by backing out on the outside nuts
and then tightening down on the inside set of nuts just
above the housing plate. Be sure to get an equal gap at
all three nut locations.
6.
To tighten the air gap, raise the nuts just inside the red
housing plate and then tighten the outside nuts.
BRAKE TORQUE ADJUSTMENT
This should only be required after prolonged brake use.
7.
The third set of nuts from the bottom, just below the
springs, are for adjusting the brake torque setting. * The
brakes come preset from the factory with the torque set at
a nominal 24 ft/lbs.
*
Adjustments to the torque setting should not be performed
without first consulting the Rite-Hite Door Technical
Support at 563-589-2722.
LOWER TRACK EDGING REPLACEMENT

2.

Figure 38.
3.
It may be necessary to remove the lower feed-in roller.
4.
Slide edging out through the top of the track, use caution
when pulling out, so as not to catch on internal photoeyes.
5.
Slide new edging into track, make sure not to catch on
photoeyes. Align holes with photoeyes.
6.
