4.7 Install the Isolation Valves
Isolation valves (included with water heater) provide the ability to isolate the water heater from the
structure’s plumbing and allow quick and easy access to flush the heat exchanger. The supplied
isolation valves meet American National Standard (ANSI Z21.10.3) / Canadian Standard (CSA 4.3)
and are ANSI/NSF 61 approved for potable water.
4.7.1 Instructions
1. Position the
Hot Isolation Valve (Red)
below the
Hot Outlet
side of the water heater.
2.
Hand tighten the
Swivel Nut
of the
Hot Isolation Valve (Red)
to the
Hot Outlet
side of the water
heater.
3.
Rotate the
Drain Valve
to an accessible position. With a wrench, tighten the
Swivel Nut
to the
water heater.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the
Cold Isolation Valve (Blue)
.
5. Connect the
Cold Isolation Valve (Blue)
to the
Cold Water Supply Line
.
6. Connect the
Hot Isolation Valve (Red)
to the
Hot Water Supply Line
.
7. Ensure that both
Drain Valves
are in the closed position before turning on water supply.
