6.0 Printer
Maintenance
The following section covers routine maintenance, printhead service, fuse replacement, and replacement parts
for the SP2200.
6.1 Routine
Maintenance
To ensure trouble-free performance from the SP2200, keep dust and dirt out of the electronics enclosure and
away from the print mechanism. A pro tec tive dust cover (part number 21210) is avail able to keep the printer
clean when not in use.
The only routine maintenance required for the SP2200 printer is regular cleaning and lubrication of the print-
head carriage shaft. Depending on the environment and amount of use, the carriage shaft should be cleaned
and lubricated every one to six months using LUBRI-PLATE, IBM #23, or a similar product.
See Section 2.2.1 for information about installing ribbon cartridges.
6.2 Printhead
Service
Printhead problems can arise when one or more of the printhead pins does not fi re.
Before replacing the
printhead, perform the printhead and drive transistor tests de scribed in the SP2200 Ticket Printer Ser-
vice Manual. If the printhead mal func tion is caused by a bad drive transistor and the tran sis tor is not
replaced, a new printhead will be ruined.
6.3 Fuse
Replacement
If the SP2200 will not power on, use the following procedures to check the line fuses, power supply fuse,
then the 5 volt supply fuse on the CPU board.
6.3.1 Line
Fuses
To replace line fuses in the SP2200, do the following:

2. Use a small, fl at-head screwdriver to lift the cov er
of the fuse com part ment (see Fig ure 6-2).
3. Use the screwdriver to lift the fuseholder out of the
