7.
Spread out the liferaft on the packing surface (See Fig. 8A - Folding Diagrams). Start by folding
up the boarding ramp, if applicable. Continue folding the raft from the right side being sure to
get the fold crease as close to the cylinder valve as possible. Fold as tight as possible to top of
cylinder valve. (See Fig. 8B - Folding Diagrams)
8.
Fake fold the mooring line and place it on top of the folded raft leaving enough length available
on outside of the raft to attach to vacuum bag. (See Fig. 8C - Folding Diagrams)Fold the left side
of the raft over top the right side. Make sure the fold as close to the cylinder valve as possible.
(See Fig. 8C - Folding Diagrams)
9.
Starting at the end of the raft furthest away from the cylinder, begin folding the raft inwards. Be
sure the end of the mooring line protrudes from the folded raft edge. (See Fig. 8D - Folding
Diagrams)
10.
Continue folding until the raft is positioned over the cylinder. (See Fig. 8E-8G - Folding Diagrams)
11.
This step is for packing into a valise only. If packing into a container, proceed to the
next step. After the raft is completely folded, hold it in place by attaching two
(2) short burst
straps (for the Offshore Elites) or one (1) burst strap (for the Coastal Elites) around the width of
the raft (Short Burst Strap IPL Fig. 1, Items 260/260A). Once the short burst straps are in place,
connect one (1) long burst strap around the length of the raft. To connect the burst straps, first
join the O-rings together using three (3) bowline knots on each side of a 1/16in. nylon cord (IPL
Fig. 1, Item 240). The distance between the D-rings should not exceed 1/2in. Pull the remaining
portions of the straps through the large D-rings, adjust until snug, and tie together.
Note:
Check vacuum bag for holes.
12.
Orient the vacuum bag face up so that the hole is located relative to the inflation valve.
Temporarily remove vacuum retainer and vacuum washer from cylinder valve using a torque
spanner wrench. (See Fig. 10) Place cylinder end of raft into the vacuum bag.
TIP!
Place a strip of black gaffers tape around the hole in the vacuum bag to prevent tearing.
(See Figure 12)
Note:
All webbing and the righting line should be on the outside of the inflation valve.
Failure to do this could result in damage to the raft during inflation.
13.
Using a bowline knot, tie the mooring line to the inside loop patch on the vacuum bag. Leave
1in.-2in. worth of additional line and tape down with white adhesive tape. Tape should extend
1in. past the extra length of material. (See Fig. 12)
TIP!
Fold the extra length of the tape edge over on itself. This will allow for easy removal
during a future service.
