5.03

CHANGING A WHEEL

Park your vehicle on firm, level
ground (if necessary, place a solid
support under the jack).
- Switch on the hazard warning

lights.

Apply the handbrake and engage
first gear.

- Ask all the passengers to get out of

the vehicle and keep them away
from moving traffic.

Use the spanner to slacken off the
wheel bolts slightly. Fit it so that
you press down rather than pull
upwards.

For your safety, make
sure your car is properly
parked whilst you are
changing the wheel.

Fitting the jack:

Offer up the jack horizontally, with
the jack head against the centring
dowel
