b) Turn on power to theRack. If theP/S FAULT LED
turns on, the problem lies in the Rack backplane.
Go on to step 2c.
If the P/S READY LED does not light, the Power
Supply module is malfunctioning and needs to be
replaced.
c) Turn off power again. Wait until all LEDs on the
faceplateof thePower Supply modulehavegone
out. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the terminal
strip from the Power Supply module. Do not
removethewires from theterminal strip.
d) Removethemodulefrom theRack and verify that
card edge connectors are clean and that the
connectors on thebackplanearein good
condition.
e) ReĆinsert the Power Supply module. Use a
screwdriver to reĆconnect the terminal strip to the
Power Supply module. Turn on power to the Rack.
If the problem is not corrected, replace the Rack.
B. If you areusing Power Supply M/N 57C493:
TheFAULT LED on thePower Supply moduleshould
always be off when input power is on, the Power
Supply output voltageis within proper limits, and the
watchdog alarm coming from thebackplaneis not
active. If the Power Supply FAULT LED is on, use the
following procedureto isolatetheproblem.
a) Turn off power to the rack and all connections.
b) Replace the Processor module whose OK LED was
off.
c) Turn on power to therack. If thePower Supply
FAULT LED turns on, theproblem is with thePower
Supply.
Step 3.
Verify that the power supply output is sufficient to power
all of themodules in therack.
Check the total power requirements for the modules in the
rack against thepower supply output.
5.2
The BAT. OK" LED Is Off
Problem: The BAT. OK" LED on the Processor module faceplate is
off. Thepossiblecauses of this problem arethefollowing:

the tape covering the battery has not been removed
D
the battery is not facing in the proper direction
D
thebattery is missing
D
thebattery is malfunctioning
D
thepower supply is malfunctioning
To correct the problem, first turn off power to the rack. Refer to steps
1Ć3 in section 3.4 for instructions on taking the Processor module out
of the rack to inspect the battery. If the tape is still covering the
battery, remove it. If the battery is missing or not facing in the proper
direction, insert the battery with the +" end facing the +" marking
