Brake check
For the brake check, release the dead man handle at average engine speed and at full
speed. The machine must come to a stop straight away.
If the braking performance is insufficient, adjust the brakes immediately (see chap. 7.7) or
take the machine to an authorised Rapid service centre.
7.8
Adjusting brakes
For optimum braking performance, the play on the dead man handle must be 3 to 5 mm.
Insufficient play on the dead man handle may result in insufficient braking performance.
Excess play on the dead man handle may mean that the brakes cannot be released.
Play on dead man handle 3 to 5 mm
Adjustment when:
insufficient play on dead man handle
• Press down and fix dead man handle
• Remove splint (1)
• Tighten crown nut (2) 1/6 of a turn
• Check play on dead man handle
• Secure crown nut (2) with splint (1)
excess play on dead man handle
• Remove splint (1)
• Release crown nut (2) 1/6 of a turn
• Check play on dead man handle
• Secure crown nut (2) with splint (1)
