Functionality depends on the carrier board interfaces. For example:
•
On the CR100-2DVI carrier board, the GMCH multiplexes the PCI Express x16 graphics
slot with two Intel SDVO ports. This allows the x16 PCI Express graphics slot to be used
as a x1 PCI Express slot. The system BIOS can automatically detect the differences in
the PCI Express slot and SDVO usage.
•
The CR100-PCIE16 does not support a digital video monitor, as no DVI chipset is
present on the carrier board.
Audio
The Intel high definition audio (HDA) specification defines a digital interface that can
attach different types of CODECs, such as audio and modem CODECs. The ICH6-M Intel
HDA digital link shares pins with the AC-Link. The Intel HDA controller supports up to 3
CODECs.
I/O
PCI Express interface
The CE915GM provides four PCI Express lanes that are compliant with the
PCI Express
Base Specification Version 1.0.
Each port supports 2.5 Gbps bandwidth in each direction (5
Gbps concurrent) and two virtual channels for full isochronous data support.
One of the four ports is used to support Ethernet functionality using the Intel 82573V
Gigabit Ethernet controller.
SATA controller
The ICH6-M has an integrated SATA host controller that supports independent DMA
operation on two ports and supports data transfer rates of up to 1.5 Gbps (150 Mbps). The
SATA controller contains two modes of operation: a legacy mode using I/O space, and an
AHCI mode using memory space.
SATA and PATA can also be used in a combined function mode (where the SATA function is
used with PATA). In this combined function mode, AHCI mode is not used. Software that
uses legacy mode will not have AHCI capabilities.
PCI interface
The ICH6-M PCI interface provides a 33 MHz, Version 2.3 implementation. For PCI
resource allocations, see
PCI resource allocation on page 49
.
The ICH6-M incorporates a variety of PCI functions that are divided into six logical devices
(B0: D27, B0: D28, B0: D29, B0: D30, B0: D31 and B1: D8).
