the background at AREA 1

displays
the
local
background
so
it
is
significantly lower.
If the unit BG is set at the
160cps
– then the Audio
Threshold = 223cps so it will
NOT
sound the audio when the 200cps source location is passed.
200cps
(Red) -
However if the unit is positioned at the 120cps point and then the
REACQUIRE
BG
selection is made, the Audio Threshold is then 175cps so the 200cps source will give an audio
response.
NOTE
: Of course if the radiation source signal is quite large then such a small BG change has little affect,
so under most circumstances the
REACQUIRE BG
step is not required. However if you scan the
area and find NOTHING, using the
REACQUIRE BG
process defined above may make the source
easier to find.
3.3.4 Onfly Assay Results
When the Survey Histogram is ready use the joystick and click it to the right, this opens the
Onfly assay
results
screen.
Click Joystick to RIGHT
The Display changes to Onfly Assay results,
clicking the joystick to the LEFT will toggle the
screen back to Survey Histogram
