Evaluating print quality
Press the PRINT / PAUSE key to put the printer into the pause mode.
Press the NEXT or PREVIOUS key until the Test Print menu is displayed.
Press the + or - key to scroll through the test patterns and select Test Pattern: x in.
at a width that is appropriate for the width of your media. Print widths for the Test
Pattern are 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 inches.
Press the SELECT key again to start the printing of the line test pattern.
Evaluate the test pattern to determine if printing is uniformly solid and crisp.
Press the PRINT / PAUSE key at any time to stop printing.
If print quality is not satisfactory, allow the test pattern to continue to print and
press the NEXT or PREVIOUS key to access any of the four parameters that can
be adjusted while operating in the test print mode. The parameters that can be
changed are: print speed, print intensity for each printhead, print line
adjustment for heads 1, 2, and 3, and cross web adjustment for each printhead.
As each parameter is displayed, press the + or - key to adjust the selected setting.
As you change the parameter settings, examine the test pattern to ensure that the
changes you are making are improving print quality.
Continue to adjust the parameter settings until you are satisfied that print quality
has been optimized.
