If there is not enough space to write the attributes to the medium
auxiliary memory, no attributes are changed and the
WRITE ATTRIBUTE
command terminates with a
CHECK CONDITION
status. The Sense Key is
set to
ILLEGAL REQUEST
and the Additional Sense Code is set to
AUXILIARY MEMORY OUT OF SPACE
.
If the medium auxiliary memory is not accessible because no medium is
present, no attributes are changed and the
WRITE ATTRIBUTE
command
terminates with a
CHECK CONDITION
status. The Sense Key is set to
NOT
READY
and the Additional Sense Code is set to
MEDIUM NOT PRESENT
.
If the medium is present, but the medium auxiliary memory is not
accessible, no attributes are changed and the
WRITE ATTRIBUTE
command terminates with a
CHECK CONDITION
status. The Sense Key is
set to NOT READY and the Additional Sense Code is set to L
OGICAL UNIT
NOT READY, MAM NOT AVAILABLE
.
If the combination of volume number and partition number is not valid,
the command terminates with a
CHECK CONDITION
status. The Sense Key
is set to
ILLEGAL REQUEST
and the Additional Sense Code is set to
INVALID FIELD IN CDB
.
If the medium auxiliary memory has failed as a result of, for example, a
bad checksum, the
WRITE ATTRIBUTE
command terminates with a
CHECK
CONDITION
status. The Sense Key is set to
MEDIUM ERROR
and the
Additional Sense Code is set to
AUXILIARY MEMORY WRITE ERROR
.
If the
WRITE ATTRIBUTE
command parameter data contains an attribute
with an Attribute Length field (see
Attribute Format
on page 242) set to 0,
one of the following actions occurs:
• If the attribute is Read Only, no attributes are changed and the
WRITE
ATTRIBUTE
command terminates with a
CHECK CONDITION
status.
The Sense Key is set to
ILLEGAL REQUEST
and the Additional Sense
Code is set to
INVALID FIELD IN PARAMETER LIST
.

Indicates the number of bytes in the page, excluding
the 4 bytes that make up the header.
Attribute
Contains: 1) an attribute header, and 2) data. Each
attribute must be formatted as described in
Enhanced
Medium Auxiliary Memory (EMAM) Attributes
on
page 242.
