Is the printer top closed securely?

Is the printer receiving data from the computer?
Yes

If the Data indicator blinks after you send a file, the
printer is receiving data.
No

Is the printer on line? The message window displays
IDLE

Is the interface connected to a computer or a network?

Is the interface enabled? Check the appropriate Adminis-
tration/Communications/
Interface
/Mode menu.

Has the communication mode been changed from ESP
(the factory default) to a dedicated mode that does not
match the file you’re sending?

Check the status page you printed in step 2.

If you’re using the serial interface, are the baud rate
(speed of data transmission) of the printer, the com-
puter, and your software application program the
same?

If you’re using an optional Ethernet or Token-Ring
interface, are the appropriate protocol (or protocols)
enabled? Are the printer and protocol addresses
configured correctly?

If you still can’t identify the problem, contact your QMS
vendor.
