6 Putting the DLU into service
6.1 Connecting the voltage supply
Before installing the equipment, please check the equipment label or the data sheet to verify whether
the DLU is suitable for your supply voltage and load. Connect the equipment to the supply voltage and
to the outputs of your controller or to your switching relays as shown on the connection table 4.2 and
in accordance with your requirements. Operation readiness is signaled by the status LED lighting up
green. The equipment does not require any preheating or warm-up time.
Note:
Reverse polarity protection prevents damages due to inversion of the polarity of the operating
voltage. Exceeding the supply voltage range or connecting AC voltages to a DC equipment can cause
destruction of the equipment. Proxitron GmbH accepts no liability for damage or injury caused by
incorrect connection.
Equipments with a semiconductor output indicates detection of the object by switching the applied
operating voltage. Depending on the output function, this is present at the switching outputs of the
equipment. The semiconductor outputs are designed for a maximum load current of 400 mA. If this is
exceeded, the electronic short-circuit protection that protects the outputs against destruction is
triggered. This is indicated by the function LED flashing red. After overloading of the output has been
eliminated, the equipment returns automatically to normal operation. It is not necessary to interrupt the
operating voltage.
7 Operating the DLU
7.1 LED Controls
DLU controls are placed on the rear of the device.
Status LED
Function / Meaning
LED 1 - ON-delay
green = ON-delay active
off = ON-delay inactive
LED 2 - OFF-delay
green = OFF-delay active
off = OFF-delay inactive
LED 3 sensor 1
green = sensor unoccupied
red = sensor occupied
LED 4 sensor 2
green = sensor unoccupied
red = sensor occupied
red flashing = short circuit / overload at least on one output
LED 5 outputs
yellow = switching output active (N.O.)
off = switching output inactive (N.O.)

LED 4 sensor 2
red flashing = short circuit /
overload at least on one output
Short circuit or overloading must be removed.
After overloading of the output has been
eliminated, the equipment returns automatically to
normal operation. It is not necessary to interrupt
the operating voltage.
