MAINTENANCE
Proper maintenance is essential for safe, economical, and trouble-free operation. It will also help to
reduce air pollution.
1. Follow the service and maintenance schedules. Maintenance schedules are based on the
assumption that your machine will be used for its designed purpose. Continuous high-load
or high-temperature operation, or use in unusually wet or dusty conditions will necessitate
more frequent service.
WARNING! Improper maintenance or failure to correct a problem before operation could
cause a malfunction that could lead to serious injury or death.
2. Always follow the inspection procedures, maintenance recommendations, and service
schedules that are detailed in this owner’s manual. To help you properly care for your
generator, the following pages include maintenance schedules, inspection procedures, and
simple repair procedures using basic hand tools. All other service tasks must be performed
by generator repair centres or other qualified mechanics.
3. The maintenance schedule applies to normal operating conditions. If you operate your
generator under severe conditions, such as sustained high-load or high-temperature
operation or use it in unusually wet or dusty conditions, adjust your maintenance
schedule accordingly.
4. A qualified service centre must perform all necessary maintenance, replacement, and repair
to the emission control systems and devices using parts that are certified to EPA standards.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
Some of the most important safety precautions follow; however, we cannot warn you of every
conceivable hazard that could arise while performing maintenance. Only you can decide whether or not
you should perform a given task.
To ensure the best quality and reliability, use only new, genuine parts or their equivalents for repair
or replacement.
WARNING! Failure to properly follow maintenance instructions and precautions could lead to
serious injury or death. Always follow the procedures and precautions in this owner’s manual.
Make sure that the engine is off before you begin any maintenance or repairs.
1. Carbon monoxide poisoning from engine exhaust. Be sure there is adequate ventilation
whenever you operate the engine.
