Testing CO Side of Pairs With Test Card
Q
All work performed after this work sequence requires the use of a
rubber mat and rubber safety gloves when working on or touching any
cable pair on the CO side of the Positron Shelf. This includes the use of
the Test Card in the shelf since this card brings contact with the cable
pairs out to the edge of the card on the CO pairs terminal pins.
1. Insert the test card Model # 751366 into a slot in the shelf. Use appropriate
test equipment to test the cable pairs from the shelf slot to the CO Main
Distributing frame or any other available test point that is at or beyond the 300
Volt Point closure.
2. Test all pairs for shorts, grounds and opens. This test is being done to insure
that all connections are complete between the CO side of the shelf to the CO,
thereby proving the reliability of the circuit. If there are any problems with the
pairs, remember that you can open the Isolation jack plug and access the
cable pair directly on the CO side of the jack field.
3. Repeat this test for all shelf slot positions.
4. Insert the test card Model # 751366 into a slot in the shelf. This test will
confirm the presence of power in the shelf.
5. Repeat this test for all shelf slot positions.

Testing Substation Side of Pairs with Test Card
1. Insert the test card Model # 751366 into a slot in the shelf. Use appropriate
test equipment to test the cable pairs from the substation side of the shelf to
the 66 block on the protector block on the backboard.
2. Repeat this test for all cable pairs in all shelf slot positions.

The use of the rubber mat and gloves is required because the test card
brings the CO pairs out to the edge of the card. This presents the full
fault created voltage potential across the CO and Station cable pair pins
on the test card.
