1.3.4 PC/104
Interface
The CS5530A companion chip provides a PCI-ISA Bridge that may operate in master
or slave mode. PEB-2530VL only support ISA slave mode. ISA master mode allows
an ISA board to grant the bus and thereby get the bus master status. The bus master
has the ability to generate bus cycles and thereby transfer data without involvement
of the CPU or DMA (Direct memory access). However, ISA add-on card which
utilizes the bus master mode is very rare today. A 104-pin PC/104 connector is
equipped onboard for future expansion.
1.3.5 SDRAM
Interface
This board uses SDRAM in the compact DIMM-144 form factor. 3.3V PC 100
SDRAM modules are recommended to use.
1.3.6 IDE
Interface
A primary as well as a secondary IDE controller is provided by the CS5530A
companion chip which supports Ultra DMA mode and PCI bus mastering for the
data transfer.
Access to these controllers is provided by a standard IDE 44-pin connector and a
Compact Flash type II connector on the solder side of this board.
1.3.7 USB
The USB interface provides two USB channels that are controlled by the CS5530A.
The signals are provided by means of a down link 2 connector.
1.3.8 Ethernet
The Ethernet interfaces are based on one Intel 82559 Ethernet controller, which
support both 100Mbit as well as l0Mbit Base-T interface.
The Ethernet controllers are attached to the PCI bus and use PCI bus mastering for
data transfer. The CPU is thereby not loaded during the actual data transfer.
