INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The
Mat Mover
®
is shipped with almost every item pre-assembled, and each unit is
factory tested to ensure the units are correctly wired with each logic controller. Please
take time to read the entire manual before commencing with installation. The
Mat Mover
®
has been designed to provide years of trouble-free operation when
installed properly.
1. STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENT
The most critical part of the installation is the
existing
structural support members. The
structural supports for the system are to comply with the building design, and be
located on 22’-0” centers. If the support members are not in place, notify the architect
and/or owner at once. The project specific shop drawing by Porter contains the design
load requirement and typical attachment details with the eight (8) anchor locations.
Approval by the architect/structural engineer is mandatory!
IMPORTANT!
An architect or structural engineer must give written approval for the
support design and any structural modifications, including the steel
specifications, before the unit may be installed.
The same critical approval applies to wall mounted units. The wall to which the
Mat Mover
®
attaches must be capable of supporting load of unit as indicated.
Approval by the architect/structural engineer is mandatory!
Four (4) wall mount brackets are provided by Porter, with twelve (12) thru-bolt
requirements, as indicated on the project specific shop drawing. Note all thru-bolts are
to be 3/4” diameter (by others). The architect/structural engineer must approve the
thru-bolt connection before commencing with installation. The wall construction may
be comprised of block, insulation and face brick, for example, requiring additional
structural support between the face brick and interior block. All hardware exposed on
the exterior of the building (bolts, washers, nuts, plates) must be weather treated
(galvanized, plated).
