9.
WIRING THE COMPLETE MAT MOVER
®
SYSTEM
It is imperative the power supply is disconnected before installing, repairing or working
in the proximity of the
Mat Mover
®
.
Only
qualified electrical personnel should connect
or repair this product. Inexperienced personnel attempting the wiring of this unit must
note that, improperly done, it is
dangerous
, and could result in damage to the
equipment and/or
serious injury
or
death
. If you are not qualified,
do not
attempt the
electrical wiring.
9.1 OVERVIEW/ REQUIREMENTS
The key to a safe and trouble-free installation is to follow the instructions precisely.
The control panel has been pre-wired at the factory, requiring field wiring from the
power source to the panel, the panel to each of the two (2) hoists, and the panel to
the key switch control.

A 4” square, recess-mounted junction box is required (by others) to
accommodate three (3 wires at the key switch location.
x
Four (4) wires from the power source (three-phase plus ground).
x
Eight (8) wires from the control panel to each hoist assembly.

for key switch and control panel locations.
The key switch location is to be within clear view of all hoisting operations, but
not
beneath the equipment. Remember, the wrestling mats may total 45’ in length, so
a wall adjacent to the
Mat Mover
®
is ideal. The control panel may be centered
between the two hoist units for minimum wire run. Note, however, on wall-mounted
units, the control panel should
not
be mounted on the wall
below
the hoist units.
The vertical travel of the wrestling mats would be obstructed by the control panel,
as shown in
Figure J
.
9.2 WIRING
Each unit requires 208v, 230v or 460v in three-phase. Check to make certain the
existing power supply matches the control panel’s power setup. As with any
project, the run (length) of wire will determine the appropriate gauge required. The
wiring of all electrical components must be in accordance with national and local
electrical codes, and per these instructions.
For your convenience, each hoist has a set of terminal blocks marked per the
attached detail. Unscrewing the top cover plate of each hoist can access the
terminal block. If more access is required, three (3) of the four (4) side plates may
be removed, as well. The wiring schematic also details each wire’s function for
trouble shooting, if required (see
Figure K
).
