Night View Assist
1
WARNING
Lack of attention and
failure to detect objects
via Night View Assist
Night View Assist is a support system and cannot
alert the driver of a collision under all circumstances.
There is a risk of accident.
Responsibility for braking in time and for appropriate
vehicle lighting always lies with the driver.
e
Drive with extreme care.
e
Always check the traffic situation and the area
around the vehicle.
CAUTION
Night View Assist un-
available or only available
to a limited extent
Shocks or damage to the bumper, e.g. through
parking collisions, can displace the camera. This may
impair the performance of the system.
e
Visit an qualified specialist repair shop. Porsche
recommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as
they have trained technicians and the necessary
parts and tools.
The thermal imaging camera of the Night View As-
sist in the front of the vehicle provides a thermal
image of the surroundings that can be displayed in
the Car & Info display in the instrument cluster. The
system can detect persons and animals beyond the
area illuminated by the headlights and highlight
these in the camera image.
Because the thermal imaging camera is only sensi-
tive in the heat radiation range, the image in the
camera may differ significantly from the image as
perceived by the human eye. Night View Assist de-
tects persons and animals when it is sufficiently dark
and at an ambient temperature below 82 °F (28 °C).
An impending collision or driving dangerously close
past persons will trigger a warning within the system
limits. In this case, the system warns the driver vis-
ually and acoustically. On vehicles with Porsche Dy-
namic Light System Plus, the endangered person
flashes in order to enhance detection.
Prior to an impending collision with wild animals
outside urban areas, a warning is also issued within
the limits of the system. In this case, the system
warns the driver visually and acoustically.

The Porsche Night View Assist has the following
functions:
– Display of a thermal image.
– Pedestrian and animal warning.
Pedestrian warning
If the system detects a possible collision with a pe-
destrian, it can warn the driver by means of a warn-
ing tone and an appropriate display in the instrument
cluster.
Fig. 135: Pedestrian warning on instrument cluster
The pedestrian warning is output if a pedestrian is
standing or moving onto the driving lane. On vehicles
with LED matrix headlights, the endangered person
flashes in order to enhance detection. Even with this
warning, the driver may still have to swerve or brake
sharply in order to avoid a collision. The warning time
varies according to the traffic situation and the driv-
er's behavior.
Animal warning
The animal warning reacts to hazards caused by
large wild animals, e.g. deer, outside of built-up
areas. The animal warning is triggered if an animal is
