Adjustments
Adjustment Procedure
1. Loosen chain guide.
2. Loosen two eccentric
locking bolts (2).
3. Loosen caliper mounting
bracket bolts located under
the axle.
4. Insert a pin punch through
the sprocket hub and into the
eccentric housing.
5. Roll the ATV forward or
back to adjust chain slack to
the proper tension.
6. Tighten the eccentric
locking bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (9
kg/m) for machines without
the hitch and 45 ft. lbs. (13.7 kg/m) for machines with a hitch.
7. Tighten caliper mount bolts 10-12 ft. lbs. (1.4 - 1.7 kg/m)
8. Remove pin punch.
9. Roll ATV foward checking chain tension in several places around
the chain.
NOTE:
The chain is adjusted correctly when the
tightest portion of the chain has approximately 3/8” (10mm) of
deflection.
10. Position chain guide to allow 1/8” clearance and tighten retaining
bolt to 5 ft. lbs. (7Nm).
11. Reinstall chain guards, if removed
NOTE:
Reposition chain guide to allow 1/8
″
(.3 cm) clearance
between sprocket and guide.
