WARNING
Escaping stead can cause burns. Never remove the
pressure cap while the engine is warm or hot. Always
allow the engine to cool before removing the pressure
cap.
3. Remove the lower radiator hose

and drain coolant
to a level below the thermostat housing.
4. Loosen the hose clamp

and remove the coolant
hose from the thermostat cover.
5. Remove the two bolts

that retain the thermostat
cover to the engine.
6. Remove the thermostat cover, seal

and thermostat
6
from the engine.
NOTE: Thermostat has a pop-off relief to allow
the bypass system to operate until the thermostat
opens.
7. Clean the thermostat mating surfaces on the engine
and thermostat cover.
8. Install a new thermostat and seal into the cover and
install the cover onto the engine.
9. Install the thermostat cover bolts. Torque bolts to
specification.
Thermostat Cover Bolts:
7 ft-lb (10 Nm)
10. Install coolant hose back on the thermostat cover and
securely tighten the hose clamp.
