Troubleshooting
If you have problems during or right after installation of your PlexWriter drive, use
these tips to help find the problem. You can also use these charts to help find
problems that develop in existing installations.
•
Start here if you’re a PC user.
•
If you’re a Mac user, start with page 56. Then come back here if you don’t find
the answer.
Troubleshooting: General
Symptoms
PlexWriter drive not recognized by computer and/or its operating system.
Possible Cause #1
•
SCSI cable is not connected properly.
Solution #1
•
Ensure SCSI cable is connected.
•
Verify that connectors on motherboard and drive do not have bent pins.
Possible Cause #2
•
Power connector is not attached to PlexWriter or does not work.
Solution #2
•
Ensure the computer’s power cable is securely attached to the PlexWriter’s
power connector.
•
When the computer’s power is ON, confirm that the PlexWriter’s indicator LED
is illuminated briefly, then is extinguished.
•
Connect a different power cable to PlexWriter.
Possible Cause #3
•
SCSI controller not properly installed.
Solution #3
•
Ensure the SCSI controller is correctly installed, recognized, and operating.
•
Ensure that the latest driver is used for the SCSI controller.
•
Ensure there are no resource conflicts (such as IRQ’s) with another device.
