Troubleshooting: Writing CD-R and CD-RW Discs
Symptom Possible
Causes
Solutions
Power connector is not
attached to
PlexCombo.
Ensure the computer’s power
cable is securely attached to the
PlexCombo’s power connector.
When the computer’s power is
turned ON, confirm that the
PlexCombo’s indicator LED is
illuminated briefly, then is
extinguished.
Try connecting another power
cable to the PlexCombo.
IDE cable is not
attached to
PlexCombo.
Ensure the IDE cable is securely
attached between the computer
and the PlexCombo.
Ensure the IDE cable pins are not
bent.
Drive or IDE bus is not
enabled in the
computer’s BIOS.
Ensure the IDE interface is
enabled and set properly in
motherboard’s BIOS. See “Make
Sure the Drive Is Recognized” on
page 23 for more details.
Jumper conflict.
Check jumper for the PlexCombo
drive and the other peripheral
devices (hard disk or CD-ROM
drive) on the same IDE cable.
Ensure the jumper for one device
is set to Master and the other to
Slave. Two devices on one cable
cannot be set to the same setting.
CD-R or CD-RW
software cannot
detect
PlexCombo.
Wrong cable with
jumper set to Cable
Select.
Make sure that a CSEL-
compatible IDE cable is used if
you want to use the PlexCombo
with jumper set to Cable Select.
