STEP 7: DECK BOARDS
THE FOLLOWING STEP IS RECOMMENDED TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SPLITS IN THE WOOD
1: PRE-DRILL THE ENDS OF THE DECK BOARDS TO PREVENT INSTALLATION DAMAGE. PRE-DRILL BOTH ENDS WITH A
1/8" DRILL BIT AT THE DIMENSIONS SHOWN BELOW.

INSTALL 2-1/2" WOOD SCREWS
INTO THE ENDS OF THE
CENTER DECK SUPPORTS.

4: FIND THE 2 X 4 X 70" CENTER DECK SUPPORTS WITHOUT HOLES.
5: FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE DECK THAT WAS INSTALLED, SPACE
THE TWO CENTER DECK SUPPORTS AT 14-1/4" FROM THE END OF THE 2
X 6 AND MAKE A MARK ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FORT TO REPRESENT A
CENTER LINE.
6: CENTER THE 2 X 4 X 70" CENTER DECK SUPPORT ON THESE MARKS
AND PUSH THE CENTER DECK SUPPORTS FLUSH TO THE BOTTOM SIDE
OF THE DECK BOARDS.
7: USING TWO 2-1/2" WOOD SCREWS, INSTALL THE 2 X 4 X 70" CENTER
DECK SUPPORT THROUGH THE OUTSIDE OF THE 2 X 6, AND INTO THE
END OF THE CENTER DECK SUPPORT. REPEAT THIS STEP ON THE
OPPOSITE END OF THE FORT.
8: USE 2" WOOD SCREWS TO ATTACH THE DECK BOARDS TO THE
CENTER DECK SUPPORT. INSTALL THE CENTER ROW OF SCREWS FROM
THE TOP OF THE DECK BOARDS INTO THE 2 X 4 X 70" CENTER DECK
SUPPORT. USE ONE SCREW PER BOARD.

2: START WITH THE 5/4 X 4 X 40-1/4" DECK
SPACER AT ONE END OF THE FORT.
CENTER THE BOARD BETWEEN THE
CORNER POSTS AND ATTACH IT WITH 2"
WOOD SCREWS THROUGH THE PRE-
DRILED HOLES AND INTO THE DECK
SUPPORT BELOW. NOTE: THE TOP OF THE
SCREW HEAD SHOULD BE FLUSH TO THE
TOP OF THE DECK BOARD.
3: NEXT YOU WILL INSTALL THE 5/4 X 6 X
47-3/8" DECK BOARDS. LEAVE A UNIFORM
(APPROX. 1/4") SPACE BETWEEN THE DECK
BOARDS. INSTALL WITH 2" WOOD SCREWS
