Connecting a satellite/cable receiver or
other set-top box
Satellite and cable r eceive r s, and te rr est r ial digital TV
tune r s a r e all exam p les of so-called ‘set-to p boxes’.
When you set u p the r eceive r you’ll need to tell the
r eceive r which in p ut you connected the set-to p box to
(see The Input Setup menu on p age 37).
• If you r set-to p box is equi pp ed with an HDMI out p ut
te r minal, we r ecommend connecting it to the
r eceive r ’s

te r minal. When doing so, also
connect the r eceive r and TV by HDMI (see
Connecting using HDMI
on p age 23).
Connecting other audio components
This r eceive r has both digital and analog in p uts, allowing
you to connect audio com p onents fo r p layback.
When you set u p the r eceive r you’ll need to tell the
r eceive r which in p ut you connected the com p onent to
(see also The Input Setup menu on p age 37).
• If you r tu r ntable has line-level out p uts (i.e., it has a
built-in p hono pr e-am p ), connect it to the
CD
in p uts
instead.
• If you’ r e connecting a r eco r de r , connect the analog
audio out p uts to the analog audio in p uts on the
r eco r de r .
• You can’t hea r HDMI audio th r ough this r eceive r ’s
digital out jack.
