- Position the crankshaft on the specific tool, sup-
port it on the connecting rod side and fit the bear-
ings

Inspecting the crankshaft alignment
With the specific equipment shown, check that the
eccentricities of the surfaces of Ø « A »-« B »-« C »
are within 0.03 mm. (maximum reading limit on the
dial gauge); also check the eccentricity of Ø « D »,
for which a maximum reading of 0.02 mm is per-
mitted. If the eccentricity is not much higher than
what is required, straighten the shaft, pushing a
wedge between the counterweights or tightening
them in a clamp (equipped with aluminium bushes)
depending on the requirements.

Refitting the crankshaft
- Position the transmission side crankcase half on
two wooden supports
- Using a thermal gun, heat the bearing seat to
about 120°
