The +5V
EXT
supply voltage is generated by the regulator U5. +5 V
EXT
can be switched with FET T1 which is controlled by the /PWRON
signal of the phyCORE-MPC555. This allows to switch off any
peripheral circuitry attached to the I/O connector VG1 if the target
module goes into power down mode. If +5 V
EXT
is required constantly
J1 must be closed (i.g. FET T1 is by-passed).
•
The maximum power dissipation of the +5V
EXT
path must not
exceed 2 Watt. The current is limited by the input EMI-filter to
600mA.
2 Watt > (input voltage – 5V) x current
and
max current < 600mA
For 13V input voltage, the maximum current allowed for the +5V
EXT
path amounts to 250mA.
Additional information of the signals can be found in the
phyCORE-MPC555 Hardware-manual and in the Motorola User’s
Manual MPC555.
