However the MPPTsolid is user programmable for 24 V – 72 V nominal batteries. If the
settings need to be changed or the unit requires a fresh installation, the unit must first be
connected to a computer using the RS232 serial port. If your computer or laptop does not
have a serial port, a USB to serial converter will be required. They are readily available at
any computer store.
NOTE: The settings of the COM port number displayed in the control panel must be the
same as the COM port number stated in the file “MPPTsolid_Configuration.pty”.
If
not, modify the COM port number in the configuration file
“MPPTsolid_Configuration.pty” according to the settings of the COM port displayed in
your control panel.
The protocol parameters must also be identical. If no panel is connected, the software
will not start. If no panel is available, then please connect the PV terminal in parallel to
the battery!!
The computer must have the MPPTsolid PowerWizard software installed. The Software
for MPPTsolid consists of two files. The first is a Windows only executable named
MPPTsolid.exe. The second file is a configuration file that contains all the setup values for
the MPPTsolid unit. The configuration values can be changed by opening the
configuration file (“SolarMax_Configuration.pty”) with the windows editor. This is
necessary if the program does not start. In this case the com port (can be seen in the
device manager) differs from the com port setting in the configuration file.
Wherever the two files are located a data folder and a logs folder are created to hold the
data logging files and logging files respectively. The folder structure should look like this:
C:\Program Files\ASW\MPPTsolid
Data Logs MPPTsolid.exe
MPPTsolid_Configuration.pty
The first time you start the software, you need to have the serial cable connected to a
powered MPPTsolid. The program will test all the serial ports on your PC to find the one
connected to the MPPTsolid.
