For parking the vehicle, starting
the engine and removing the

Neutral
The engine can be started in this
range. It is, however, advisable to
start the engine in the
H
range for
assured safety purpose
For normal driving
Gear shifting is carried out
automatically between the 1st gear
and the 4th gear according to
the vehicle speed
For engine braking or rapid
acceleration. Gear shifting is carried
out automatically between the
1st gear and 3rd gear according to
the vehicle speed
For effective engine braking
The transmission will not upshift
from the 2nd gear

: Move the shift lever with the brake
pedal depressed and the shift lever
button pushed.

: Move the shift lever with the shift lever
button depressed.
m
: Move the shift lever without pressing
the shift lever button.
NOTE
• You cannot move the shift lever from
the
H
range to other ranges, unless
you are depressing the brake pedal.
• hen the ignition switch is set to the
“LOCK” position, you cannot move the
shift lever from the
H
range to other
ranges, even if you depress the brake
pedal.
• There are cases where you cannot
move the shift lever if you depress
the brake pedal with the shift lever
button pushed first. In this case,
once return the shift lever button to
the original position. Then depress
the brake pedal first and redo the
operation.
