On the Local Area Connection Properties dialog
box, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the
Properties button, as shown in Figure 7-4.

On the General tab of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Properties dialog box, select the option to Use the
following IP address . Enter the static IP address of your PC
in the IP address field. For the Subnet mask field, press the
Tab key to allow Windows to define the subnet mask. The
Default gateway field can be left blank.
