(Fig.
2)
Warning!
Risk
of
injury.
Before
performing
any
maintenance
operation
unplug
the
power
cord
from
the
wall
socket.
When
mounting
the
chain
wear
protective
gloves.
Use
only
manufacturer
‐
recommended
guide
bar
and
saw

Place
the
chain
saw
on
a
stable,
level
surface.
Make
sure
the
chain
brake
lever
is
turned
off
‐
pull
the
brake
lever
(4)
towards
the
front
handle
(2)
(Fig.

‐
A).
Loosen
the
fastening
knob
(7)
slightly
in
counter
‐
clockwise
direction,
but
do
not
remove
the
side
cover.
Loosen
the
chain
tensioning
ring
(turn
it
counterclockwise)
as
far
as
it
will
go.
Loosen
the
side
cover
release
knob
and
remove
the
side
cover
(8).
Ensure
that
the
chain
tensioning
gear
on
the
bar
(19)
is
in
the
forward
position
(Fig.
2
‐
B)
‐
if
not
turning
the
gear
to
move
it
forward.
Fit
the
saw
chain
onto
the
bar
and
observe
the
direction
of
the
chain
(Fig.
2
‐
C).
The
cutting
teeth
must
be
pointing
forward
on
the
top
of
the
bar.
Fit
the
unattached
end
of
the
saw
chain
over
the
sprocket
(16)
and
the
bar
(5)
with
the
elongated
hole
over
the
imposition
on
the
body
of
the
saw
(Fig.
2
‐
D).
Use
the
turning
by
chain
tensioning
gear
(19)
and
push
guide
bar
together
with
the
chain
forward.
Observe
that
all
chain
links
are
positioned
exactly
in
the
bar
groove
and
that
the
saw
chain
is
fitted
precisely
around
the
guide
bar.
Replace
the
side
cover
(8)
by
inserting
the
tab
into
the
opening
in
the
housing
plate
(Fig.
2
‐
E)
and
press
it
to
the
bar,
making
sure
the
chain
catcher
is
properly
seated
in
its
hole.
Screw
the
fastening
nut
(7).
The
fastening
nut
should
initially
only
be
tightened
by
hand.
Tighten
chain.
For
this
purpose,
turn
the
chain
tensioning
ring
(17,
Fig.
2
‐
G).
The
chain
should
be
tensioned
enough
to
put
in
the
middle
of
the
bar
be
raised
approximately
3
mm
(Fig.
2
‐
F),
and
it
can
be
hand
moved
freely
along
the
bar.
Finally,
hand
tighten
the
mounting
nut
(7,
Fig.
2
‐
H).
Keep
your
saw
supported
on
the
tip
of
the
bar
while
tensioning.
The
tension
in
the
chain
has
a
major
effect
on
the
service
life
of
the
cutting
fittings,
and
must
therefore
be
checked
regularly.
When
the
chain
warms
up
to
operating
tempe
‐
rature
it
will
expand
and
must
be
retightened.
A
new
saw
chain
will
have
to
be
tightened
more
frequently
until
it
has
reached
its
full
length.
If
the
chain
vibrates
or
fall
out
of
the
bar
groove,
you
must
tighten
it
instantly!
For
the
chain
tensioning
slightly
loosen
the
fixing
nut
(7).
Then
tighten
the
chain
as
described
above.
