When replacing the steel strip cover, it is recommended to visually check and
clean the wearing parts of the lip seals in the carriage lids, steel strip deflections
and steel strip sliding rods and to replace them depending on their condition
(Details (see page 49)).
For the installation of a new steel strip cover, cut the new steel strip cover to the
required length using suitable sheet metal shears. Use the old steel strip cover as
matrix.
To install the old steel strip cover, clean both sides of the old steel strip cover
before reinstalling it.
Carefully slide the steel strip cover through the carriage and place it on the
support profile.
Thread the steel strip deflectors (Figure 13, Pos. 6) left and right onto the steel
strip cover. When installing the old steel strip deflectors, clean them before
reinstalling them.
Push the steel strip deflectors as far as the carriage and carefully push them back
into the carriage, up to the stop.
Carefully push the steel strip sliding rods (Figure 13, Pos. 7) through the
carriage profile and the steel strip covers. Make sure that the steel strip sliding
rods are seated in the profile over the entire length of the carriage and do not
hang out downwards.
Fit the carriage lid (Figure 13, Pos. 3) on both sides and tighten the screws
(Figure 13, Pos. 4) to the required tightening torque (see Table 13). Clean the lip
seal before assembling the old lid.
Take care that the carriage lid is aligned exactly to the carriage profile (lip seal
parallel to the steel strip cover). If the lip seal is mounted at an angle, there is a
risk of premature wear.
Align the steel strip cover over the entire profile length.
Ensure that the steel strip cover lies centrally in the profile over its entire length.
In the off-centre position there is a risk of premature wear of the steel strip
deflections and the steel strip cover.
Clamp the steel strip cover (Figure 13, Pos. 5) with steel strip cover terminal strip
(Figure 13, Pos. 1) on one of the two deflection station. Tighten screws with the
respectable tightening torque (see Table 13).
Move carriage to the deflection station with the assembled terminal strip.
Smooth the steel strip cover (Figure 13, Pos. 5) in the direction of the second
deflection station by hand and clamp it to the deflection station using the steel
strip cover terminal strip. Tighten screws to the respectable tightening torque (see
Check if the steel strip cover is touching the carriage. Therefore move the
carriage over the entire length of the stroke and pay attention to grinding noises.
In the stroke area slightly moisten the steel strip with Teflon spray.
