Horizontal Wall Termination
Only the following 5 x 8" vent terminations are approved for use with this fireplace:
(Use of any other vent terminations is not allowed.)
ICC EXCELDirect®
TM – 5HT
DuraVent DirectVent® Pro
58DVA – HSCH*
All other sections of pipe and elbows listed by the vent manufacturer can be used. Follow the vent pipe
manufacturers installation instructions. Use all shields, firestops and vent pipe supports as required by
the vent manufacturer.
NOTE: Mixing venting components from different manufacturers is not permitted.
Exterior Wall Opening:
Ideally, position the fireplace so that the exterior wall studs will not be in the way of the vent pipe exiting
the chase. If they are, the location of the fireplace may have to be adjusted or the venting may have to
be offset. Consult your local building codes prior to proceeding.
IMPORTANT:
When locating the wall opening for the vent pipe, it should be noted that vent terminal
clearances must be maintained. See Vent Terminal Minimum Clearance on page 28 for proper
clearances.
A minimum 1 foot length of pipe is required off the top of the fireplace for any horizontal wall termination.
With this minimum vertical rise in combination with a 90° elbow, the maximum horizontal run on Natural
Gas is 8 feet and 5 feet when fired on Propane. See Venting Charts on page 30 and page 31. For
longer horizontal runs, increase vertical rise appropriately. The rise and run must be constrained to the
boundaries of the charts.
The horizontal run of vent pipe must have a ¼ inch rise for every 1 foot of run towards the termination
Note: All installations must include the Vertical Vent Shield. See "Vent Pipe Shield " section
in this manual.
